About Us
Welcome to New View Counselling and Therapy
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers, holding a Master of Social Work from the University of Melbourne. My practice focuses on providing specialized therapeutic support for adolescents, adults, families, and couples, with a strong emphasis on cultural sensitivity and inclusivity.
With extensive experience working with all cultures including culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) populations, including vulnerable communities such as asylum seekers, refugees, and individuals affected by alcohol and other drugs (AOD), I am well-equipped to address the complex impacts of adversity, employment-related stress, relationship issues, domestic violence, and communication challenges. My approach is deeply informed by the unique cultural and individual needs of each client.
I practice a recovery-oriented, goal-focused approach, using a multidimensional assessment process supported by evidence-based clinical tools to provide holistic care. I am proficient in a range of Focused Psychological Strategies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution-Focused Therapy, Strength-Based Approaches, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, Schema Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Motivational Therapy.
In my years of practice as a mental health professional, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients, each facing unique challenges. My approach has always centred on providing tailored care that meets the individual needs of each person, taking into account the complexity of their mental health conditions.
I’ve worked extensively with clients experiencing Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), where persistent worry and physical symptoms like fatigue and difficulty concentrating can take a heavy toll. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help them identify and challenge the negative thoughts that fuel their anxiety. Alongside this, I introduce relaxation techniques and, when necessary, collaborate with other healthcare professionals for medication management to ease their symptoms.
Clients struggling with Depression often come to me feeling overwhelmed by a sense of hopelessness and loss of motivation. For them, I use a combination of CBT and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), focusing on improving their thought patterns and addressing relational issues that may be contributing to their low mood. I’ve also found that Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) can be particularly effective in helping clients maintain their recovery and prevent relapse.
In my work with individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), I see firsthand how intense emotions and unstable relationships can disrupt their lives. To support these clients, I rely on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which teaches critical skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and building healthier relationships. I’ve also used Schema Therapy and Metallisation-Based Treatment

(MBT) to help clients develop healthier coping mechanisms and a more stable sense of self. I often encounter individuals with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), where intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviours become overwhelming. For these clients, I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a form of CBT that helps them confront their fears without resorting to compulsive rituals. In some cases, medication, such as SSRIs, is a useful complement to therapy.
Working with children and adolescents diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) presents its own set of challenges. With these young clients, I engage in Behavioural Therapy and Parent Management Training (PMT) to help families develop strategies to manage difficult behaviours. For ADHD, I also work on building skills in time management and social interaction, often in collaboration with other specialists.
I’ve supported many young clients dealing with school-related issues such as bullying, social anxiety, or peer relationship struggles. Using Play Therapy, Social Skills Training, and Solution-Focused Therapy, I help them build resilience and develop healthier, more positive interactions with peers and authority figures.
My experience with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has shown me how deeply trauma can affect an individual’s daily life. I’ve used Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma–Focused CBT to help clients process their traumatic memories and reduce the emotional pain associated with these experiences.
In every case, I begin by conducting a comprehensive risk and vulnerability assessment to gain a deep understanding of each client’s history, current challenges, and strengths. These assessments help me tailor the treatment process to the individual, ensuring that we address not just their symptoms but also the underlying issues contributing to their condition.
Throughout treatment, I use outcome measurement tools to track each client’s progress. This helps both the client and me to monitor improvements over time, whether it’s a reduction in symptoms, increased emotional resilience, or better coping mechanisms. By regularly reviewing this progress, I can make adjustments to the therapeutic approach to ensure that it continues to meet the client’s needs.
My goal is always to offer compassionate, evidence-based care that helps clients not only manage their mental health conditions but also thrive in their personal and professional lives. By empowering individuals to understand their diagnoses and build on their strengths, I help them pursue meaningful goals and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
